We are seeking a proactive Research Assistant to join our team.  This role involves supporting the daily operations of our laboratory, assisting with experimental procedures, and ensuring the laboratory runs smoothly and efficiently.  The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in scientific practices, experience with laboratory equipment, and an interest in regenerative medicine.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage laboratory inventory by monitoring supplies, placing orders as needed, and maintaining relationships with vendors. Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and functions properly, scheduling maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Implement and manage inventory systems to efficiently track supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensuring that resources are readily available for research activities.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, adhering to established data management protocols to ensure the integrity and accessibility of research data.
  • Uphold and enforce laboratory safety protocols, contributing to a safe and productive research environment.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new laboratory personnel, providing guidance on equipment operation and laboratory procedures to ensure consistency and quality in research practices.
  • Assist in various aspects of laboratory analysis, quality control, and data management as part of the research team.
  • Support the implementation of research projects and experiments under the guidance of senior research staff, ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Handling logistical and administrative tasks related to research projects, such as scheduling meetings and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that all research activities comply with ethical standards and legal requirements, particularly when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks, such as sample preparation, tissue processing, and data collection.
  • Engage in literature reviews to support research objectives.
  • Prepare findings for publication and assist in laboratory analysis, quality control, or data management.
  • Starting job duties on time, staying on the job throughout the assigned shift to complete duties properly, and attending all scheduled meetings and appointments.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting, with a solid understanding of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in using and maintaining laboratory equipment, including calibration processes.
  • Prior experience with laboratory ordering and inventory management systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with the principles of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine preferred.
  • Experience in cell culture, animal tissue, or similar areas of research preferred.
