Purpose: 

The Laboratory Technician will support the investigation and development of new processing methods for human cells, tissues, and cellular-based products.  This position involves ensuring the accuracy and consistency of experiments, which is essential for the successful development and characterization of tissue technology products. The technician will handle sensitive biological materials with high standards, directly contributing to the success of research projects.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute scientific protocols, including preparing samples, handling chemicals, and conducting assays, adhering to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of experimental data to support analysis and reporting.
  • Uphold strict documentation practices to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Monitor experimental processes to ensure consistency and reliability in laboratory outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot issues independently and seek guidance from senior staff when necessary to enhance problem-solving skills.
  • Coordinate with research team members to ensure experiments are executed efficiently and communicate effectively within the lab environment.
  • Prepare biological or chemical samples for testing, following specific protocols to ensure consistency.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and operate laboratory equipment to support experimental processes.
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Manage laboratory inventory by tracking supplies and placing orders as needed to keep necessary materials available for research.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments with minimal supervision to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Maintain knowledge of FDA, AATB, ISO, and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance in laboratory activities.
  • Participate in training sessions to acquire new skills and stay updated on laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  • Support senior technicians and researchers in developing and refining experimental protocols.
  • Participate in the review of laboratory procedures to identify and implement operational improvements.
  • Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects, providing effective support and enhancing laboratory operations.

  • Skilled in the use of standard laboratory equipment and techniques, particularly in cell culture and tissue processing.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with others in a research environment.
  • Flexible in responding to changes in the lab environment and experiment schedules.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, while still being an effective team player.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field, or 2 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in a laboratory setting, with a solid understanding of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  • Experience in cell culture, animal tissue, or similar areas of research preferred.
