Purpose:

The Benefits and Payroll Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the company\'s payroll and benefits operations. This role involves the complete processing and management of payroll data for all employees, administering health benefits enrollment and compliance, and providing detailed analysis and reporting. The analyst will also work to optimize payroll and benefits processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while providing excellent service to employees.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute bi-weekly payroll processing, including data entry, paid time off balances, tax information, direct deposits, and new hire/termination processes.
  • Ensure accuracy in time and attendance data, including tax withholdings, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data and HRIS system to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage the interface between payroll systems and third-party vendors, ensuring seamless data exchange.
  • Administer all employee benefit programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations, ensuring timely processing and compliance.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment, including preparation of materials, employee communication, and system updates.
  • Address and resolve benefit inquiries, discrepancies between carriers and payroll, and maintain ongoing communication with employees about their benefits.
  • Develop and deliver detailed reports on payroll and benefits data, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Provide analysis to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Assist in the preparation of audits and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Ensure payroll and benefits practices are in full compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Assist as needed with processing workers’ compensation, short-term and long-term disability claims to third party administrator.
  • Apply for state unemployment tax ID numbers and manage related filings.
  • Implement payroll and benefits best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to optimize HRIS and payroll system functionalities.
  • Proactively identify and recommend solutions to improve payroll and benefits processes.
  • Maintain and update organizational charts using Microsoft Visio, ensuring that all changes in staffing, roles, and structure are accurately reflected and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration, with a focus on analysis and process improvement highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Professional certification in payroll (CPP) or benefits (CBP) preferred.
